Muic Relfection

I had quite enjoyed music last term because it had focused a bit more on instruments and I thought that it was really nice to have more time doing practical stuff. One skill I had learned last term was being able to use the pedal on the piano, I did get to perform the song I had learned was Clair De Lune By Debussy and I was quite happy with the way it had turned out, I will definitely be taking music next term and I wanna try and focus more on the piano and how to incorporate the pedals.

Music

 The song I will be performing In music is called clair de lune, it's a classical piano piece by Debussy. I'll be doing a solo because it's a bit easier to practice because I won't have to try and teach someone else and myself at the same time, I think I need to work on using the piano pedals a bit more to make the song feel more like its self since the song is very harmonious, I think trying to implement the pedel and the keys will be hard but it will be a good challenge.

 In music we are going to be performing in a group for our assessment, My group is only Addison with myself and we were looking at doing Smells like Teen spirit by Nirvana I was thinking of playing the electric guitar bit while my friend Addison sings the lyrics. The song Smells like teen spirit's background story Kurt Cobain said that "Smells Like Teen Spirit" was an attempt to write a song in the style of the Pixies, a band he greatly admired. What I think will be challenging will kind of be the chords but also the lyrics because it is a alt rock song its a bit rough,. The bit of the song we are going to be working on the pre chorus.

Overall everything was amazing and I enjoyed learning all instruments 

What have you found challenging:

Probably picking the right song and practising it and then performing it was a bit challenging but it was a good experience 

What did you perform for your final assessment? who did you preform with? why did you choose that song:
I performed Howls Moving castle: Merry- Go- Round - Life , I performed a solo, I chose it because it has a really big meaning to me and I thought It would be cool if I learnt it.

how did you find performing:
It was alright, I was very nervous

Not necessarily I messed up on a piece because of my nervousness

What I think is challenging is the strum pattern and the shifting to different chords.

What are the differences between guitar and ukulele/ which one is better/easier for you to play:

Guitars are bigger than ukuleles. Also, the standard guitar has 6 strings, while the ukulele has 4. The fretboard of the ukulele is significantly thinner than the guitar

Describe your study of ukulele, have you enjoyed it, was it easy or hard
it was easy to learn about it but when I held it and started learning the chords and the strum pattern it was very difficult but I enjoyed it nonetheless

What is the difference between a piano and a keyboard
A 'piano' is an acoustic instrument with weighted keys whereas a 'keyboard' is an electric instrument (requiring a power source) with unweighted (lighter) keys than a piano.

What have you enjoyed about learning the piano/ keyboard what have you found challenging? 

I enjoyed learning about how to use your left hand and why and how it can become an important key in making the music have more flow, what I found challanging was trying to incorporate the left hand but also learning the songs.

Blues Research : Historical Conext

In music class, we had to get into groups of four and we got to choose a genre of music we wanted to research my group and I decided to do blues, We were also given the options of what to search about the music genres e.x musical instruments they use. I had chosen the Historical Context meaning I had researched who had started the blues genre and where it had all began.

During Music class, we had started a topic where we got to decide on doing certain research on popular or just general New Zealand artists. I had picked Stan walker because I didn't quite now him to well and its had helped me a bt to understand the popular artist.

I have chosen the guitar because it's very interesting to learn and there are a few songs I would love to play on the guitar
