Hurumanu - Dirty Water experiment

Aim: To make a filtration plant using household materials.

Water Filtration Plant

What is filtration?

Filtration is separating solids from liquids by adding a medium through which only the liquid can pass. 

Examples are:

1.  Pool filter
2.  air filter
3.  pip filter
4.  water filter

Materials

1.Container 

2.Plastic cup 

3.rocks

4.sand

5.filter paper

6.Dirty water

Process - ( use verbs or doing words in each step )

Step 1

Cut the bottle in half 

Step 2

Put the top half upside down inside the bottom bottle

STEP 3

fold the filter paper into a cone shape and place inside the top bottle 

STEP 4

Get 1 cup of sand and put it into the cone and then add the stones onto the sand

STEP 5

Pour the dirty water into the cup and make sure not to full it to the side 

Findings

Write a short sentence about the water every 1 minute. 

Include 'How much water has filtered through', 'How fast it is dripping through', and 'How clear the water is'.

Water color: clear-ish

Conclusion: I have learnt how to make a filter using only a few ingredients, I was very surprised when it started to drip because I thought that it wouldn't work because it had sand and rocks in the way, I even tried it and I was shocked that it tasted like normal water at first but then it tasted like water with dirt in it
